As cited in the article, Epic follows the bankruptcy of COPEAC and rides closely on the coattails of the collapse of AKMG. The fall of an affiliate network can strand hundreds and thousands of affiliates, network employees and advertisers. With these events, the destabilization of the affiliate marketing industry has become more obvious in 2012 than perhaps ever before.
As financial failures, search engine updates and tax initiatives threaten to pummel internet marketing, growth still exists. Social commerce and affiliate marketing are estimated to climb to a $30 billion industry in just a few years, according to affiliate marketing expert Sarah Bundy.
